Guildford Hockey Club is delivering hockey to primary school pupils across South West Surrey. This is part of Project 2024; a plan to engage with 24 local schools over the next three years.
This year will be our second full year working with local schools. We are raising money to provide coaching equipment, staff training, and expert coaches to run inspiring sessions.
In the medium term, should a school's first year prove successful, hockey will be funded sustainably through their ring-fenced primary school sports premium. This is currently allocated to (for example) multi-sport classes or in some cases it is money that is unspent.
Guildford Hockey Club will continue to train coaches, staff and volunteers, provide competitions and festivals between schools as well as offering outstanding club hockey for those players who wish to continue hockey out of school.
The more successful our Project 2024 fundraising, the more schools we will be able to work with and the more children will play hockey.
