Mixed Team EH Plate Run Comes to an End

 29th Apr 2017
It was good while it lasted. Very good. And a huge amount of fun. But sadly, it's over for our Mixed team's run in the EH Plate...

GHC's Mixed Team entered the England Hockey knockout competition which started back in the Autumn.

A first round loss to Aldershot & Farnham meant that we would continue our journey not in the Cup but in the Plate - still worth fighting for of course and a few friendlies were organised to get the team into shape.

Next up were Camberley & Farnborough which we won 4-3. A tight match. Then came Basingstoke with whom we drew and pulled off a great shoot out to win on pens.

So, in the fourth round, we faced a very strong Wapping Printers side made up of Premier level Ladies and Conference level Men. We had the chance to play on the Olympic training ground at Old Lougjtonians which was a treat. Wapping were a good team. 1-0 to them at half time with Olly Church in goal putting in a fantastic performance including some tremendous 3rd and 4th phase saves.

Sadly it ended 5-0 to them so there ends our run in the Plate. Well done to all who played during the competition and to those who put up a good fight against Wapping on the day: Olly C, Fraser D, Jonny,P JY, Ryan, Connor, Will E, Harriet, Choi, Hannah, Karen, Sammy and Lizzy.

The Club are really proud of you for doing so well and enjoying this competition!!
