Our GHC Ladies 3s' final league match this Saturday promises to be a nail biting event with the match winner claiming the top promotion spot...
If Guildford beat Tulse Hill and Dulwich Ladies 5s they will gain the 3 points needed to come top of their league and gain promotion to Div 7, if they draw but have a better goal difference they will come second and hopefully still get promoted depending on how many teams are relegated or promoted from the leagues above.
The Ladies 3s had a challenging and rocky start to the season losing 5 players to the Ladies 2s as well as Coach Maggs who moved to head up the newly formed GHC Ladies 4s who are also playing on Saturday to secure promotion.
However the 3s is a team that has always dug deep, so a combination of the existing experienced players, new talented players joining from the Girls under 16 squad plus new players joining the club on the back of renewed interest in hockey thanks to the GB Ladies' stunning success at the Olympics - and with Kirsty Rostron having taken the helm as Player Coach - the team has gone from strength to strength.
With an impressive 16 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses out of 21 games and a total of 82 goals scored, this makes GHC L3s the second highest performing Guildford team in all of the Surrey leagues (122 teams in total) in 12th position, with Ladies 4s in 7th place and our Ladies 2s in 17th place.
A special thanks has to go to our sponsors Roffe Swayne who have enabled us to invest in our the new away kit which has been worn all season.
