Alice Lane joined GHC two years ago as our Ladies 1st XI Head Coach at a challenging time for the team, club and section.
Numbers were down and there was much uncertainty following on from a long term coach's departure.
Alice jumped into the role with both feet, her heart and soul and did a fantastic job of training, leading, motivating and even playing.
She also put up her hand to join the GHC Board and came to meetings with fresh ideas, sensible suggestions, and practical solutions. And she worked with the other coaches to look after the players in other parts of the Ladies Section.
The Ladies 1st XI had their best finish this season for many years (they were close to the top of the table all season but had a few too many draws to finish in promotion territory). But we can share the credit with her for the fantastic season the Ladies had overall with three of four teams winning their leagues and promotion.
It was a sad day when Alice let us know that a family move would not allow for her to coach next season - her husband must be doing well to keep getting interesting postings! We are still hoping home might not be too far away for her to commute and continue to play for GHC - in any case we wish her all the best for her family move.
Best of luck, Alice - you will be very much missed from all of GHC!
