What a weekend for GHC Boys! Our Under 18s won the England Hockey Super6s this weekend that took place over the weeked in Telford. And the Boys Under 16s came runners-up in their age group National Finals - and our Under 10s and 12s won South Invitational Gold (next article in Club News)...
The Boys Under 18s placed second in their pool in the indoor finals, meeting winner of the opposing pool, Ashmoor in the semi-final. Undefeated Ashmoor were no match for a well-warmed up Guildford side that took control several seconds into the match and never looked back for a result of 5-2. This set up a final against Doncaster who had also come second in their pool but beat Repton in their semi-final.
The Guildford boys were up 1-0 in the first two minutes and it was mostly one way traffic as they put 7 goals in. Doncaster doubled their account in the final two minutes as they took of their keeper for an extra outfiield player but with the final whistle at 7-4 came the trophy and Gold for our lads.
Marco (back left) was the tournament joint top goalscorer with 9 goals. Many thanks to coaching team Dan Fox, Tylo Remke (who coached the team to Gold in the South Finals) and Ed Tristem (coached the team to National glory):

Guildford Boys U16s also did superbly well in their National Indoor Finals, qualifying second in their pool after a tough pool match v Cheltenham. In a semi-final that ended 1-1, the boys did a terrific penalty shoot-out holding their nerve to win 3-2.
Another meeting with Cheltenham beckoned and we had another chance at them in the Final - alas despite the hard work a close battle went Cheltenham's way in the end. Our boys came home with the Silver medals in a National Finals!
Well done to coaching team Dan Fox, Rob Field/James Relph (who coached the team in the National Finals), and Ed Tristem (who coached them to Silver in the South Finals)!
