Fun Filled Race Night

 27th Jan 2018

SaturRaceNightPhotos3day night saw a packed and very lively club house with members from all the adult teams together with friends enjoying a flutter on eight televised races.

The event was organised by representatives of all the ladies teams whom promoted the evening, sold tickets, horses and jockeys – nobody was safe as Libby was even seen selling to visiting umpires!!

Master of ceremonies was Dave Hall complete with Sheepskin jacket (and minder – Mr Lenel) guided us through the race card with vigour and humour.

A betting office was set up in the snug and manned by the Ladies 1s (and Lois!) all evening. A bit of a worry really as to whether any of the bets would be recorded properly given the amount of Gin that was being consumed!!!

There were lots of winners throughout the evening with some great prizes for the winning horse owners and jockeys. These ranged from taster gym memberships, to meal vouchers, dinner at one of Dave’s pubs, a tour of the silent Pool distillery.

Dinner was served halfway through the evening and there was plenty of time for people to enjoy each others company.

The evening was a great success on many fronts, raising nearly £1700 for the club and also bringing together the teams in a relaxed atmosphere rather than passing each other on and of the pitch.

An evening like this would not be a success without a lot of hard work and the ladies did a great job. In addition to the organising committee the ladies 1’s could be found doing all sorts from being in the kitchen, behind the bar, selling raffle tickets, running the tote, thanks to all of you. In particular though thanks must go to Libby (Ladies 1’s captain), Susie (ladies 2’s) and Lois (Ladies 5’s) who ensured the rest of us did all that was needed.
