Guildford Hockey Club Men’s and Ladies’ 1st XI teams have earned promotion to the top division of the South Hockey Leagues for next season. Both teams have had impressive seasons so far with the Men securing their place with five games to spare and the Ladies with six games still to play.
The Ladies, securing back-to-back promotions, having been promoted last season as well, are two games from becoming Division champions for the second year running. Many of this year’s team are young players who have come through Guildford HC’s Junior ranks. The combination of youth alongside the more experienced players has created a formidable squad.

Hard work in the Men’s squad has resulted in an undefeated season so far in both League and National Cup competitions. The team is hungry for more success and will continue, alongside the Ladies, to build upon the player base, leadership and culture in the club to strive for further success and promotion.

The first teams’ success is also a reflection of the efforts of the entire club in developing young players and giving them opportunities in the Senior teams and in building a club that is attractive to new players helping with recruitment of players both locally and from further afield.
Best of luck to the first team players, Head coaches Gary Boucher and Shay O’Connell, and Team Managers Tony Hall and Andrew Fergusson, for the remaining games of the season.
