Another fantastic Barcelona Tour
The second weekend in December 2016 saw GHC's sixth Junior tour to Barcelona for some competitive hockey. The Spanish celebrate the Immaculate Conception on 8th December every year by having a public holiday on the nearest Friday to the 8th. This year the 8th fell on a Thursday...so the Spanish had Thursday and Friday off. This was a good reason for the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona to celebrate the 30th consecutive running of their annula hockey tournament with an even bigger, better event spread over four days instead of the usual three.
The Polo Club youth tournament complements their senior tournament which has been running for 67 years; The Kings Tournament (Hockey Reyes) is played in early January and only Europe's top club teams are invited. A big thanks to our hosts, RC Polo, for a superb event hosting 106 teams across five age categories in two different categories of competition.
GHC entered 5 teams into the more challenging 'Championship' half of the tournament, travelling with 55 players and 50 parents/helpers/coaches.
Below are the GHC results in the Championship part of the tournament.
