GHC Clothing and Kit, September 2007
GHC has not had a comprehensive policy on players’ kit since the days of there being one GHC quartered shirt available to all….so there was no choice!!
Today our teams regrettably often take to the pitch in an assortment of ‘maroon’ shirts, various shorts and either hooped, plain maroon or other coloured socks. It often looks shabby!
Some teams ask their players to pay for their shirts (so they keep them and turn up with them for the next game), others have a ‘team’ stock of numbered shirts which are held and washed by one person and then handed out for each game. Various ‘sponsored’ shirts are in current use, despite the fact that the original sponsor arrangements ended some time ago.
We are a big sports club and as such we are able to attract commercial involvement that offers members considerable financial benefit with regards to kit, providing the opportunity is managed properly. This is the step that is being taken now. It all adds up to exciting news for the Club……
- GHC will have a new set of club playing kit for all members as from October 2007.
- We will have an official supply point for the club’s kit that will also be able to sell other hockey equipment and GHC related items with discounts etc..
- A supplier has been found that will run an on-line “shop” within the GHC website for members to buy direct for home delivery (with delivery charge), collection at the conveniently located store in Guildford or, for certain weekends, delivered to the Club.
- Nigel Gray has been given overall responsibility for the arrangements with the new supplier, sourcing the club’s playing kit, leisure wear, and team equipment. In addition an attractive discount scheme for GHC members has been set up at the store in Guildford not only for hockey sticks, astro footwear, etc., but also other sports equipment and clothing.
- Individual teams’ playing shirts in a striking modern design and made from the latest ‘Drifit’ materials (with 16 numbered shirts for each squad, plus ‘change’ shirts for certain teams) will be supplied to each captain who will then be responsible for the team’s use of them each week. Every captain will be asked to collect an annual shirt charge from the team towards the cost of the 16 shirts they are given. If a team secures sponsorship (for at least £500) then the shirt charge will be waived.
- Current white shorts with GHC crest will remain the official shorts. New material shorts and replacements for the current shorts will be available from the new supplier.
- Hooped maroon and white socks will remain the Club socks. The better quality padded sole socks will be available from the new supplier.
- Arrangements for the Ladies kit have recently been resolved so now the whole Club can take advantage of the attractive new possibilities with the new supplier.
- Colts kit will remain as at present but now available from the new supplier. Maggs Kyte and Nigel Gray working together on this.
- The new supplier is ………
